Duvet 'The Eider', filled with Icelandic eiderdown
There are duvets in eiderdown, but there are also duvets in the best eiderdown.
The duvet 'THE EIDER' from Brinkhaus is filled with Icelandic eider down. A product that belongs in the 'Luxury Lifestyle' collection.
But what is Icelandic eiderdown?
Icelandic eiderdown is an incredible and unique insulation material created by nature. Eiderdown is very large, but finer and thicker than all other types of down. This forms a kind of coat with insulation like no other. No natural or artificial material insulates as well.
The eider ducks that live in the cold climate of Iceland brave ice temperatures and enormous polar storms with their plumage. The ducks use their unique breast and stomach to protect the brood from the cold. Before the females lay their eggs, they lose some of their feathers. These are then collected by them, and they fill their nest with them. When the females have brooded, they leave their nest. The valuable down is then meticulously collected by people without disturbing the birds in their natural environment. This down is used for items in Brinkhaus's unique Luxury Lifestyle collection.

Explanation of some terms:
- THE TICKING: Due to the special properties of eiderdown, Brinkhaus does not use the conventional duvet materials that hold the down in place. Eiderdown can be made durable by fine natural silk fabrics. This also encourages heat exchange and allows eiderdown duvets to breathe.
- FILLING: in order to distribute the filling, the filling is weighed in advance for each square, and afterwards the squares of the eiderdown duvet are carefully filled by hand.
- HEAT CLASS 3: for people who feel hot quickly and/or for use in heated bedrooms.
