They contain no building blocks, no vitamins, no minerals. They make your skin look better temporarily but as soon as you take the product off, the effect is gone. In fact, silicones are as bad for the environment as plastic. No mineral oils: Mineral oils put an impenetrable greasy film on the skin. Nothing can get in and nothing can get out, making clogged pores more likely.
