There are duvets in eiderdown, but there are also duvets in the best eiderdown.
Brinkhaus duvet 'THE EIDER' is filled with Icelandic eiderdown. A product that belongs in Brinkhaus' 'Luxury Lifestyle' collection.
But what is Icelandic eiderdown ?
Icelandic eiderdown is an incredible and unique insulation material created by nature. Eiderdown is very large, but finer and thicker than any other type of down. This forms a kind of fur with insulation like no other. No natural or artificial material insulates as well.
The eider ducks that live in the cold climate of Iceland brave freezing temperatures and huge polar storms with their fur. The ducks use their unique breast and stomach to protect the brood from the cold. Before the females lay their eggs, they naturally lose some of their feathers. They then collect these and then they fill their nest with them. When the females have brooded, they leave their nest. The valuable down is then meticulously collected by humans without disturbing the birds in their natural habitat. This down is used for items in Brinkhaus' unique Luxury Lifestyle collection.

Explanation of some terms:
- THE TICKING: Due to the special properties of eiderdown, Brinkhaus does not use the conventional duvet materials that hold the down in place. Eiderdown can be made durable by fine natural silk fabrics. This also encourages heat exchange and allows eiderdown duvets to breathe.
- THE FILLING: in order to distribute the filling perfectly, the filling for each square is weighed in advance and afterwards the squares of the eiderdown duvet are carefully filled by hand.
- HEAT CLASS 3: for people who get warm quickly and/or use in heated bedrooms.
