Tips om goed te slapen op een camping

Tips for sleeping well at a campsite

During the first nights of your vacation, you often don't sleep as well. This is because your body has to get used to the new place and environment. Especially while camping, you may also be bothered by background noise, daylight or temperature differences on top of that. To ensure that you can still enjoy your camping vacation carefree, in this blog our sleep experts are happy to share five tips for a good night's sleep when camping.

Everything starts with your camping checklist

Good preparation is essential for a comfortable night's sleep at the campsite. Before you leave, make sure you have a good idea of what all you want to take with you on camping vacation and write it down on a piece of paper or type it out on your computer or cell phone. Of course, there are some essential items that you should definitely not forget on your camping vacation. Our sleep experts made a little camping checklist in advance:

  • Tent and groundsheet
  • Quality sleeping mat, air mattress or camp bed
  • Good pillow (see also tip 3)
  • Earplugs and sleeping mask (see also tip 4)
  • Warm sleeping bag or well-ventilated down comforter
  • Insect repellent, sunscreen, aftersun
  • First aid kit
  • Camping chair
  • Toiletry bag
  • Reading book or e-reader
  • Flashlight or headlamp
  • Food, drinks and cooking utensils
  • Water-resistant storage bags
  • ...

Find the right camping spot

The location of your tent has a big impact on your sleep quality. Look for a quiet spot in the campground, away from busy roads, plumbing and the playground. On top of that, it is also important to place your tent on level ground without rocks or roots. If possible, choose shade to avoid heating up too early in the morning from the sun. Although of course the sun is not your only concern, wind and rain should also be considered. Sometimes an extra windbreak or extra pegs can be a useful asset.

The importance of a good pillow

A good pillow is crucial for a good night's sleep, especially if you go camping. To ensure that you can still sleep on something familiar, it is always handy to bring your pillow from home. That way, your neck muscles don't have to get too hard used to a new pillow.

Don't have a lot of space in your luggage and are you looking for a compact pillow that still provides sufficient support for your neck and head? Then our travel pillows are highly recommended. They are compact and lightweight, but still comfortable to sleep on. The Tempur and Technogel travel pillows relieve pressure and reduce neck pain so you can start your day optimally. The Biogreen travel pillow from our own Bosmans label is also highly recommended. The base of natural essential oils from the Wonder Tree provide perfect ventilation. Rather looking for a comfortable water pillow? Then our Mediflow travel pillow may be the best option for you. This pillow is made with a fully sealed and insulated water pocket with a resilient, comfortable and super soft fiber layer on top. Protect your eyes and ears

To sleep undisturbed, it is best to avoid disturbing stimuli such as noise and light. Good earplugs and a quality sleep mask provide the right protection in this case. In this way, you create a restful environment in which you can sleep better.

We offer a soft Tempur sleep mask that moulds itself around your head without exerting pressure. This allows you to rest or sleep without any problems. The material is soft for the delicate skin around your eyes and feels like a soft pillow. Order the Tempur sleep mask easily through our webshop or come test it in our store in Heist-op-den-Berg.

Plan activities that promote sleep

Physical activities during the day can contribute to better sleep. Take walks during the day, go swimming in the local pond or explore the area by bike. Just be sure not to exercise vigorously late at night, as this can disrupt your sleep. It's better to relax before going to bed with a good book or by looking at the stars together. This way your body will unwind and you can go to sleep in your tent completely relaxed.

Have fun camping!
